Description
This beginner horse ride near Arezzo is made for people who have never sat on a horse. It starts at the La Fogliarina riding school, where qualified staff look after first-timers and keep the pace calm and supportive from the first minute to the last.
Before riding comes a briefing of about half an hour. Your instructor shows you how to mount safely, how to sit properly, how to talk to your horse and what the basic gaits are, so you feel at ease before leaving. Helmets are provided, and so is a back protector, which is compulsory for riders under 18.
Then the group sets out for a guided ride of about an hour on a countryside route between vines, olive trees and woodland tracks. The turning point is Oliveto, a little medieval village near the school, and then the loop brings you back to the starting point. The group is small and the horses are used to beginners.
Accident insurance is included, and you need an identification document for it. Riders must weigh no more than 95 kg, and children under 14 cannot join. Rain or wind cancels the ride, with a full refund. Bring sun cream; food and drinks are not included.
