Description
If you want an olive oil tasting in Chianti that goes beyond a quick sip at a counter, this farm visit begins with a family member welcoming you and telling the story of the estate: how it grew, and the daily work behind its sustainably produced extra virgin oil.
Then you walk out among the centuries-old olive groves. On the way the family explains which olive varieties grow here, the farming techniques that blend tradition and innovation, how the olives are harvested, pressed and stored, and how to recognise a good extra virgin oil. It suits anyone curious about why Chianti shapes the scent and taste of its oil.
Back at the farm comes the guided tasting of four of the family's own oils, served on toasted Tuscan bread, as tradition has it:
- Classico, the house oil, elegant and balanced
- a lemon-flavoured oil, fresh and lively, suggested for fish and white meats
- a truffle-flavoured oil, intense, for pasta, eggs and cheese
- a spicy oil with a natural peppery note
The visit lasts about an hour and a half and runs in Italian, English or Spanish. Places are limited to keep the atmosphere intimate, so booking is required. You need no knowledge of olive oil, only curiosity, and the route changes slightly with the season. Couples, families and small groups are all welcome, and the farm shop sells its products if you want to take some home.
