Description

This Chianti winery tour takes you through the cellars of a family-run, sustainability-minded estate, ending with four wines served alongside local food.

This Chianti winery tour brings you to a family-run estate that farms with the environment in mind. A guide leads you through the cellars and talks about the winery's heritage, its sustainable practices and the story behind each bottle. The visit lasts about an hour and a half.

Then you sit down to taste four wines, among them the estate's Rosato and its Chianti Classico. When they are available, two more limited-edition vintages join the glasses, Super Tuscan wines among them, made in small numbers each year.

The wines come with a spread of local food:

  • cured meats and cheeses on a platter
  • homemade jams
  • crostini
  • fettunte, bread slices soaked in the estate's own extra virgin olive oil

Families are welcome: children eat the same dishes and drink water. Wine is served to guests aged 18 and over only, and tell the hosts about dietary needs or allergies in advance and they will do their best to accommodate you. The estate lies in the Chianti hills near Greve in Chianti, and getting there is up to you, since transport is not included. It suits anyone who wants to understand how a Tuscan estate makes its wine and taste the results with proper food.
