Description
A dinner in the vineyard in Chianti means a table laid among the vines at Poggio ai Laghi, in the Monteriggioni area, at sunset. A private guide leads you there, and the evening is built around Donna Ava and her seven handmaidens, a legend that inspires the estate's wine collection. Each glass is a chapter of that story, told by a wine expert who adds art and history.
Over the evening you taste the estate's products:
- wines, including two sparkling and two red, from Chianti Classico and Riserva to a Supertuscan
- three extra virgin olive oils: classic, white truffle and chili pepper
- two vinegars, a Modena balsamic and a red onion balsamic
The menu begins with Tuscan salami, finocchiona, cured ham, pecorino and tomato bruschetta. Then come lasagna with a traditional Tuscan meat ragù and a barbecue as the main course, with Fiorentina, and the meal closes with cantuccini dipped in Vin Santo.
The experience lasts about two hours. If the weather leaves the vineyard ground unfit, it moves to the indoor tasting rooms. Tell the hosts about allergies or dietary needs in advance. Pickup, drop-off and tips are not included.
