Description
The Tenuta Casenuove wine tour takes you through an estate of vines and olive trees close to Greve in Chianti, starting with a guided walk among the organic vines. Your guide explains how sustainable winemaking works here and what the terroir gives each vintage.
Next comes the modern cellar and barrel room, set inside a traditional Tuscan farmhouse. Sculptures and installations are scattered across the grounds, and the guide tells the story of the land, from old terraces to today's cellar techniques, and how local grape varieties and old methods survive next to new ones.
The visit ends with a guided tasting of the estate's wines, and every pour comes with local cold cuts, cheese and the estate's own olive oil:
- Ziik Rosé, a sparkling wine from Sangiovese grapes alone
- Chianti Classico in two vintages
- a Riserva and a Gran Selezione
- an IGT wine
Two formats are on offer. The standard visit lasts about two hours, while the private tour adds a light lunch of typical Tuscan dishes matched with the wines. Afterwards you are free to browse the wine shop or sit among the vines. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. The tour suits all ages, though the vineyard paths may be hard going for wheelchairs. Hotel pickup is not included.
