Description

Horseback riding near Pienza in the Val d'Orcia hills: meet and groom your horse, then follow a guided group ride through the UNESCO-listed Tuscan countryside.

Horseback riding near Pienza begins on the ground, with a first meeting between you and your horse. With a certified instructor, the whole session takes about 60 to 90 minutes, through the countryside of the Val d'Orcia, a landscape on the UNESCO list.

Before the ride there is an optional grooming time, up to half an hour, to get comfortable with the animal. Then comes a guided group ride of 45 to 60 minutes, whose pace is set by who is riding, how the group does and what the weather allows. For children up to 13, the instructor holds the reins and walks beside the horse.

  • Optional grooming before you mount
  • Guided ride in a group through the Val d'Orcia hills
  • Certified helmet included

Wear long trousers and closed shoes, and expect to sign a liability waiver. The rides usually start near the main building, but some days they set off from the valley stables, a short drive away, and you get there in your own vehicle. Lunch can be added as an option.
