Description
A wine tasting in San Gimignano, with olive oil and vinegar to try as well, happens within the town walls, near Piazza della Cisterna. The venue once made and stored wine, and the stone walls and cellars still carry that past. A local legend about Ava and her handmaids is woven into the stories you hear.
The glasses are filled with wines from Poggio ai Laghi, among them a Chianti Classico and a Toscana Rosso, and each one shows a different side of the estate. The same producer's oils and vinegars are tasted too, and simple Tuscan food sits alongside them to bring out their flavours.
- Tasting of wines, olive oils and vinegars
- Tuscan cured meats and pecorino cheese
- Tomato and basil bruschetta, plus crisp toasted bread with olive oil
- Cantuccini with Vin Santo to finish
Plan on about two hours. Mention any food intolerances when you book. Vegans and pregnant women should look elsewhere, and getting to the venue is up to you.
