Description
This wine tasting at Palagetto winery in San Gimignano is a relaxed one-hour session in a family estate. You gather at the winery, where the staff greet you, explain what you have booked, and briefly present the winery and the story of the family.
The tasting then begins. You taste five wines, served with a big board of typical Tuscan salami, assorted bruschetta and several Tuscan pecorino cheeses. While you taste, the estate's extra virgin olive oil is there to savour. The glasses on the programme are:
- the sparkling white A LUI
- Vernaccia di San Gimignano
- a Chianti Colli Senesi
- Solleone
- a Passito served with cantucci
The food is substantial enough to work as a light lunch, which makes this an easy stop in a day around San Gimignano. A tour of the winery and vineyard is not part of the basic experience; it can be added when you book, at an extra charge. A guide leads the session, which is offered in English, Italian, Spanish and French.
