Description
This Siena private walking tour of three hours covers the old centre with a local guide and plenty of pauses for photos. It begins around Piazza del Campo and the Palazzo Pubblico, then moves past Palazzo Tolomei, Palazzo Salimbeni and the old shopping street of Banchi di Sopra. The guide explains which of these buildings belong to the UNESCO-listed historic centre and why.
The walk then turns to Saint Catherine. At the Basilica of San Domenico you find her relics, and the Sanctuary of St Catherine is the house where she lived with her family. Further on the route passes the Baptistery and arrives at the Siena Cathedral.
Going inside is your choice, made on the spot with the guide. The ticket is not part of the tour and is paid at the entrance. Inside are works by some of Italy's major artists. At certain times the Cathedral cannot be visited.
