Description
This sunset wine tour near Siena opens on the grounds of a family-run winery in Chianti, as the evening light warms the hills. A guide walks you between the vines and the olive trees, well off the busiest routes.
Next comes San Giorgio a Lapi, a little church from the 11th century with frescoes by the Nasini family. After that you go down to the cellars where the wine is made and aged. The tour covers each stage, from the harvest to the barrel, and the family shares its story and the philosophy behind its work.
The last stop is a panoramic terrace with Chianti's hills on one side and the Crete Senesi on the other. Beneath an old white mulberry tree you taste the winery's wines along with its extra virgin oil, then sit down to a Tuscan dinner of traditional recipes and local produce while the sun sinks behind the countryside.

Most of the tour is outdoors. If the weather is bad or too hot, the tasting moves into the air-conditioned tasting room indoors. It lasts about three hours.
