Description
This San Gimignano, Chianti and Montalcino day tour from Siena fills a whole day in a minivan that carries a maximum of eight people. A bilingual escort travels with you.
First stop is San Gimignano, the walled medieval town of the fine towers. With the escort's tips in hand you have free time to wander the historic centre and the artisan shops. It is also the home of Vernaccia, a white wine made only in this area and noted as the first Italian DOCG wine.
The road goes on to a farm in the Chianti area for a tasting, with an optional lunch built around salami, cheese and similar local products. Then the van crosses the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO site, to reach Montalcino, on a hill above Brunello vineyards. You stroll up to the fortress, have a short shopping stop and finish in a wine shop tasting the Brunello di Montalcino.
