Description
A Brunello tasting at Casale del Bosco starts in the vineyards of Tenute Silvio Nardi, a historic winery north-west of Montalcino, tucked into the woods. The guided visit lasts about an hour and goes on among the barrels of the old cellar before ending in the tasting room.
Along the way you hear how the estate began. Silvio Nardi, an entrepreneur from Umbria, founded it in 1950 after falling for Casale del Bosco and its seclusion. The first bottle of Brunello was released in 1958, and in 1967 the winery was among the few that founded the Consorzio del Brunello.
In the tasting room you try four wines:
- Rosso
- two vintages of Brunello di Montalcino
- the estate's Riserva
Bruschetta with the estate's extra virgin olive oil and water come with the tasting. The tour is led by a guide in English or Italian. It is not suitable for pregnant women or wheelchair users.
